Professor Tai-Gang (TG) Nieh

T. G. Nieh is currently a Visiting Fellow at Institute for Advanced Study, City University of Hong Kong. He previously worked at Lockheed Missiles and Space Co. (now Lockheed-Martin Corporation), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and then joined Department of Materials Science and Engineering in University of Tennessee in 2004.

Professor Nieh is a world leader in superplasticity and superplastic forming. He is also widely recognized for his work in several material science disciplines, including complex alloys (for example, high entropy alloys and metallic glasses), nanocrystalline materials, lightweight alloys, metal-matrix composites, intermetallics, refractory metals and nanolaminates. He published over 400 papers in archival journals and a textbook on “Superplasticity of metals and ceramics” published by Cambridge University Press. According to Web of Science, his citation number is 17,000 and H-index of 66. He is now serving as Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Intermetallics, and has served as an editor of Materials Letters from 2008 to 2013.
