The HK$15 million gift from the late Dr Chung Sze-yuen, GBM, JP (1917–2018) will be used to establish the Sze-Yuen Chung Fund in support of the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS).

Professor Evelyn Hu, a renowned and active scholar in Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering, was appointed as HKIAS Senior Fellow in March 2020.

Professor Enge Wang, one of the most prominent physicists in China, was appointed as HKIAS Senior Fellow in November 2019.

Professor Ching Ping Wong, a world-renowned scholar in electronic engineering, was appointed as HKIAS Senior Fellow in October 2019.
