HKIAS Executive Director Professor Denver Li Danfeng Visits Beijing for Academic Exchange and Deepened Collaborations

HKIAS Executive Director Professor Denver Li Danfeng visited Beijing on 24 August 2026 to meet with two HKIAS Senior Fellows, exploring potential collaborations and strengthening ties with leading research institutions in the Chinese mainland.

In the morning, Professor Li met Professor George Gao Fu, HKIAS Senior Fellow, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a world-leading virologist and immunologist, to discuss potential joint initiatives.

Professor George Gao Fu, HKIAS Senior Fellow, has long dedicated to fostering academic collaboration between CityUHK and leading institutions. This photograph was taken during his visit to CityUHK on October 14, 2025, where he delivered a distinguished lecture titled "AI - Empowered Vaccine and Antibody Development".

In the afternoon, Professor Li visited the Beijing Graphene Institute (BGI) to meet Professor Liu Zhongfan, HKIAS Senior Fellow and the Director of BGI. Professor Li toured BGI's advanced laboratories and facilities, gaining insights into the institute's cutting-edge research on graphene materials. The visit was followed by an in-depth discussion on future collaboration opportunities between HKIAS and BGI.
