Professor David D. Yao, an HKIAS Senior Fellow and a distinguished academic known for his extensive research and contributions in the field of industrial engineering and operations research, visited City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) from 14-24 March 2025. In February 2025, the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) welcomed Professor Jean Salençon, a distinguished scholar in continuum mechanics and an HKIAS Senior Fellow. During his visit, he delivered an engaging HKIAS Distinguished Lecture, guiding the audience through the historical developments of a theory that continues to shape modern engineering.

A globally recognized expert in materials science, mechanical engineering, and skin biomechanics, Professor Dauskardt delivered two insightful talks covering cutting-edge skin research and advancements in solar technology.

Professor Tobin Marks, our HKIAS Senior Fellow and an internationally renowned chemist as well as materials scientist, visited City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) for an academic exchange. His visit included interactions with prominent scholars and the delivery of the prestigious HKIAS Distinguished Lecture on 13 January 2025.

The Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 19 November 2024, bringing together Senior Fellows from across the globe to discuss strategic advancements in research and international collaboration. Chaired by our HKIAS Chairman Professor Serge Haroche, the meeting focused on strengthening global partnerships between the City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) and the home institutions of our Senior Fellows, recruiting leading scholars to HKIAS, and preparing for the Institute's 10th-anniversary celebration in 2025, etc.

Professor Étienne Ghys, Permanent Secretary of the French Academy of Sciences and Emeritus Research Director at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), delivered a thought-provoking HKIAS Distinguished Lecture on "Soccer Balls: Their History, Geometries, and Aerodynamics" on 30 October 2024 at City University of Hong Kong.

Professor Sir John Pendry, an HKIAS Senior Fellow and a distinguished figure in physics known for his pioneering work on metamaterials, visited City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) from October 20 to October 26, 2024. His visit featured a series of engaging sessions and lectures.
