Cambridge Professor from CityUHK HKIAS shares the path to success with secondary school students
On 16 October 2025, City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) organized a sharing session at Maryknoll Convent School featuring Professor Dame Madeleine Atkins, Senior Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) and the 9th President of Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge. Over 50 secondary school students from Maryknoll Convent School and neighbouring schools engaged in an inspiring dialogue with Professor Atkins who shared her experiences on learning, success and personal growth.

Professor Tobin Marks Unveils Advanced Soft Matter Solar Cells Applications
Professor Tobin Marks, our Senior Fellow, recently visited the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) from 15 to August 23 2025 and engaged in academic exchange at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK). On August 19, 2025, Professor Marks delivered a prestigious lecture as part of the HKIAS Distinguished Lecture Series. The lecture, titled “Application of Ductile Electronic Strategies to Soft Matter Solar Cells” focused on the design, creation and realization of new materials combinations for polymeric organic solar cells (OSCs).

The Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) jointly presented a Distinguished Lecture titled "Liquid-Liquid Encapsulation: A game-changing Technology" on 26 August 2025. We are delighted to announce the publication of the second edition of "Linear and Nonlinear Functional Analysis with Applications" by Professor Philippe G. Ciarlet, Senior Fellow of HKIAS. This updated textbook has been released by the renowned Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, which includes about 450 more pages than the first edition published in 2013, enhances the original with new insights and developments in functional analysis.
