The Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) recently presented a series of five webcasts that explored breakthroughs in electronic and photonic device development. The lecturers, all professors at CityU, introduced a broad range of topics, including advances in wireless antennas, the future of 6G mobile technology, challenges in building out a modern power grid, the latest applications of nanotechnology in devices and sensors, and new uses for meta-lenses in full-color imaging and light field sensing. All these advances currently—or will soon—impact the daily lives of people across the globe.
Professor George Fu Gao, HKIAS Senior Fellow and the Director-General of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention in China, was recently elected a Foreign Member of the Royal Society for his contributions in the field of infection and immunity, particularly relating to emerging viral infections, have helped to improve our understanding of major threats to human health.
