President Way Kuo of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) was awarded the Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia (the Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy) by His Excellency Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic, on 1 June to coincide with Italian National Day.

A number of the most important developments were presented in the three talks in the recent HKIAS Distinguished Lecture Series on Physics, which attracted a large online audience. The series was supported in part by the Kwang Hua Educational Foundation and, by spotlighting the latest advances, no doubt served to motivate other participating scientists to expand the scope of their own research.

On 14 May 2021, Professor Lain-Jong Li, Chair Professor in Nanomaterials for Future Electronics of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Hong Kong, delivered a presentation titled “Materials Innovation for Future Electronics” for Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU). All participants were inspired by the speaker and conducted vigorous discussions during the Q&A session.

Cross-disciplinary advances brought about by new discoveries in chemistry have accelerated innovation in biomedicine, energy and environment research. For the Distinguished Lecture Series on Chemistry of the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU), three world-leading professors have shared their latest research results, attracting an online attendance of more than 1,000 experts and students.
