郭大维教授毕业于国立台湾大学资讯工程学系 (1986)，并于美国德州大学奥斯汀分校电脑科学系取得硕士 (1990) 与博士 (1994) 学位。郭教授曾担任国立台湾大学代理校长，现职为中央研究院资讯科技创新研究中心特聘研究员兼主任，目前亦为国立台湾大学资讯工程学系、资讯网路多媒体研究所、电子工程研究所特聘教授。

郭大维教授曾担任即时系统最顶尖国际学术会议IEEE Real-Time Systems Symposium (RTSS) 之议程委员会主席 (2007) 与大会主席 (2008)。目前担任国际学术期刊ACM Transactions on Cyber-Physical Systems之总编辑，亦担任Journal of Real-Time Systems、ACM Transactions on Transactions on Design Automation of Electronic Systems (TODAES) 与 IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics之编辑，郭教授为 ACM SIGAPP的副主席与IEEE 即时系统技术委员会 (IEEE TC-RTS) 的执行委员（Executive Committee Member)。

郭大维教授为 ACM Fellow与IEEE Fellow，著有超过200篇已接受于国内外期刊与国际会议之学术论文，并编著有英文教科书"Real-Time Database Systems: Architecture and Techniques"，由 Kluwer Academic Publishers发行。郭大维教授曾获国科会/科技部杰出研究奖、第二十二届东元奖、中国电机工程学会杰出电机工程教授奖、中华民国十大杰出青年、中研院年轻学者研究著作奖与台湾大学教学优良奖与学杰出奖。
