The most pressing task to take the COVID-19 response to the next phase is vaccination. One of the world’s leading molecular virologists, Professor Nikolaus Osterrieder, Dean of Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences of the City University of Hong Kong (CityU), presented a virtual talk titled “COVID-19 Vaccination - A One Health No-Brainer” for the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) Distinguished Lecture at CityU on 3 June 2021.

On 19 June 2019, Professor T.G. Nieh, a world leader in superplasticity and superplastic forming, Visiting Fellow at Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS), delivered a presentation titled “Some Pondering Questions in Studying High Entropy Alloys” at City University of Hong Kong (CityU).

With great sadness, we announce the passing of a world-renowned neuroscientist, Professor Sir Colin Blakemore, the Senior Fellow of Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) and Yeung Kin Man Chair Professor of Neuroscience of City University of Hong Kong (CityU). Professor Sir Blakemore passed away peacefully in Oxford, surrounded by his daughters.

Professor Way Kuo, President of City University of Hong Kong and IAS Senior Fellow, was conferred the Asian Social Caring Leadership Award at the Nobel Laureate Series: Social Caring Pledge Scheme Award Presentation Ceremony on 5 June. He is a participating leader on the Social Caring Pledge Scheme.
