A growing body of research by some of the most promising CityU early-career researchers at the intersection of fast-developing fields in fundamental science was presented at the 2021 Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) Rising Star Lecture Series.

As a part of its mission to promote diversity in academia and put an international spotlight on the next generation of academic leaders, in 2021 the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) established the HKIAS Rising Star Lecture Series. Between September and November, 15 promising scholars from the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) had the opportunity to present their recent accomplishments in five diverse fields: mathematics, chemistry, physics, materials science, and life sciences. Not only is HKIAS giving these researchers a platform to talk about their work, it is also nurturing their careers by offering grants to fund their research projects at CityU.

Running from September to November, 15 short-listed promising scholars at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) presented their latest work in five Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) Rising Star Lectures, focusing on mathematics, chemistry, physics, materials science, and life sciences.

As an integral part of their mission of championing cross-disciplinary ideas and their real-world potential, the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) at CityU recently presented its Rising Star Lectures in an inperson and online hybrid mode. The lecture series covered five major fields in basic science, covering Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science and Life Sciences, and featured 15 short-listed scholars from CityU who had gone through a rigorous selection process.
