愛丁堡皇家學會 (RSE) 剛於年度會議上宣佈，香港高等研究院資深院士兼英國愛丁堡赫瑞瓦特大學教授John Ball 爵士教授為下屆主席，John Ball 爵士教授將於明年 4 月正式上任。

 

由香港高等研究院 (高等研究院) 院資深院士領導的研究團隊，成功研發使用增材製造（3D 打印）設計成超強、高延展性和超輕的鈦基合金。這開創性發現為增材製造技術實現「材料-結構-性能」一體化智能設計開闢新的研究方向。

香港高等研究院 (高等研究院) 「明日之星講座系列：物理」於 2021 年 10 月 19 日(星期二)在香港城市大學 (城大) 及網上舉行。講座上，三位城大年青物理學研究員介紹他們的開創性發明，包括無限層鎳酸鹽超導體、未來智能手機的高壓電池及光電高性能光學材料。

香港高等研究院 (高等研究院) 「明日之星講座系列：化學」於 2021 年 9 月 30 日(星期四)在香港城市大學 (城大) 及網上舉行。講座上，三位城大化學家分別介紹了他們在鈣鈦礦光電材料納米結構控制發展、核糖核酸(RNA)結構，及層狀納米材料結構工程等方面的最新研究成果。

Since its establishment, nurturing and supporting early career researchers has been a key part of the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) mission. To inspire young academic leaders and promote diversity in academia, HKIAS launched a first-of-its-kind lecture series in this new semester—HKIAS Rising Star Lecture.

香港高等研究院資深院士兼吉林大學教授于吉紅教授，獲選為瑞典皇家科學院外籍院士 (化學)，同時獲何梁何利基金授予2021年度科學與技術進步獎，以表彰她在化學方面的傑出成就，頒獎典禮將於本年十月舉行。

 

香港高等研究院資深院士盧柯教授，聯同中國科學院金屬研究所的研究團隊，在最新一期《科學》期刊中，再次發表重要研究成果，解決了高溫下金屬中高原子擴散率帶來的不穩定性的技術難題。

Working at the frontiers of understanding and perception, three professors at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) are set to transform understanding of quotidian devices, such as LEDs or solar panels. As part of the continuing Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) Distinguished Lecture Series, the three-part section on physics in April and May 2021 introduced some of the most innovative ideas to tackle real-world problems.
