Two recent talks presented by senior fellows of the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study highlight a platform for sharing results of high-impact research.

香港高等研究院資深院士盧柯教授，聯同中國科學院金屬研究所的研究團隊，通過實驗和分子動力學模擬在多晶純銅中發現了一種新型的亞取代類型。研究顯示，當尺寸到幾個納米尺度時，重置晶界網絡能夠限制多晶體中的晶界，轉化成三維的最小界面結構。在這一多晶結構中，甚至溫度升高到熔點附近，顆粒粗化現象依然可被有效抑制，保證其強度不會發生下降（依然接近銅的理論值）。這發現為納米金屬穩定化的發展開拓了新方向。

香港高等研究院資深院士Herbert Gleiter教授將獲中國蘭州大學頒授榮譽博士學位名銜及委任為資深院士。頒授儀式將於11月23日在蘭州舉行的Herbert Gleiter納米科學前沿研討會上頒發。Gleiter教授將於研討會上主持題目為「納米科學的新概念 - 新型材料開拓新科技」的演講。由於疫情關係，研討會及頒授儀式將以網上直播。

著名數學家、香港城市大學（城大）傑出教授Philippe G. Ciarlet教授於2020年11月5日為香港高等研究院（高等研究院）主持網上傑出講座，題為「表面上非線性柯恩不等式和應用」。
