香港高等研究院资深院士卢柯教授發现「铜金属中的新型亚急性结构—可维持高温下的金属强度」，研究结果刊载于《科学》期刊
香港高等研究院资深院士卢柯教授，联同中国科学院金属研究所的研究团队，通过实验和分子动力学模拟在多晶纯铜中發现了一种新型的亚取代类型。研究显示，当尺寸到几个纳米尺度时，重置晶界网络能够限制多晶体中的晶界，转化成三维的最小界面结构。在这一多晶结构中，甚至温度升高到熔点附近，颗粒粗化现象依然可被有效抑制，保证其强度不会發生下降（依然接近铜的理论值）。这發现为纳米金属稳定化的發展开拓了新方向。

香港高等研究院资深院士Herbert Gleiter教授将获中国兰州大学颁授荣誉博士学位名衔及委任为资深院士。颁授仪式将于11月23日在兰州举行的Herbert Gleiter纳米科学前沿研讨会上颁發。Gleiter教授将于研讨会上主持题目为「纳米科学的新概念 - 新型材料开拓新科技」的演讲。由于疫情关係，研讨会及颁授仪式将以网上直播。
