鍾士元1500萬元遺產贈城大
外號「政壇教父」、「大Sir」的首任香港特區行政會議召集人鍾士元於2018年底逝世,他有份籌備成立的城市大學昨日宣佈,獲其遺產捐出其中的1,500萬港元以成立「鍾士元基金」,以支持城大香港高等研究院的發展。

HKIAS Senior Fellow Professor Qi-Kun Xue receives the 2020 Fritz London Memorial Prize
Professor Qi-Kun Xue, HKIAS Senior Fellow, was honored with the 2020 Fritz London Memorial Prize. The prize recognizes the pioneering work of Professor Xue on the experimental discovery of quantum anomalous Hall effect and edge channel in magnetic topological insulators. Professor Xue is the first Chinese scientist to receive this honor since the award established in 1957.

Professor David Srolovitz, Senior Fellow of Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study, was appointed as Head of Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityU). Professor Srolovitz is currently Chair Professor of Materials Science in MSE.

Professor Tei-Wei Kuo, Visiting Fellow of HKIAS, was appointed as Dean of the College of Engineering at CityU. Professor Kuo will also hold the Lee Shau Kee Chair Professor of Information Engineering and serve as an Advisor to President (Information Technology), with effect from 1 August 2019.

HKIAS Senior Fellow Professor Tobin J. Marks elected Fellow of European Academy of Sciences and conferred Honorary Professor by Nanjing Technical University
Professor Tobin J. Marks, Senior Fellow of HKIAS and Professor at Northwestern University, USA, was elected a member of the European Academy of Sciences (was named a Clarivate Analytics Citation Laureate) and was conferred Honorary Professor by Nanjing Technical University, China, in recognition of his contributions to science and technology, especially the pioneering work in the areas of catalysis, organo-f-element chemistry, electronic and photonic materials, and coordination chemistry.
