Professor Sir John Ball, an HKIAS Senior Fellow and one of the world's most distinguished mathematicians, continued his regular visits to City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK). He delivered two HKIAS Distinguished Lectures in June and July, 2026, bringing his characteristic depth and clarity to both talks, which were well attended by faculty members, researchers, and students. During his visit, he also engaged in academic exchanges with scholars at CityUHK.

Professor George Fu Gao — a Senior Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a world-leading virologist and immunologist — visited Hong Kong this July to introduce his two latest children's science books at the Hong Kong Book Fair on 17 July together with his co-authors, Professor Xiaopeng Ma and Professor Guangjun Yu, while also meeting with scholars from CityUHK on 18 July.

Professor Ching Ping Wong, an HKIAS Senior Fellow and a pioneering figure in materials science and semiconductor packaging, visited City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) from 3 to 11 May 2026. His visit featured an inspiring distinguished lecture and academic exchanges aimed at fostering collaboration in advanced packaging technologies and microelectronics, while inspiring faculty, students, and the wider scientific community.

Professor Habib Ammari, an HKIAS Senior Fellow and Professor of Applied Mathematics at ETH Zürich, recently visited City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) in April 2026. Marking his second time delivering an intensive lecture series on this specialized topic, he presented the highly anticipated “Wave Localisation in Disordered Systems” from 20 to 22 April 2026.

In a recent visit by Professor Dame Madeleine Atkins, HKIAS Senior Fellow and President-Emeritus of Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge, the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) hosted a week of high-level academic exchange and mentorship. As a distinguished leader in global higher education, Dame Madeleine’s week-long visit brought invaluable insights, fostering high-level academic exchange, empowering female faculty members, and providing strategic career mentorship to the next generation of scholars.

On 31 March 2026, the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) had the distinct privilege of hosting Professor Wei Yang, a world-renowned scholar from Zhejiang University and a Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. During his visit, Professor Yang delivered a captivating HKIAS Distinguished Lecture titled “Deep Dynamics & Control on the Locomotion of Legged Robots,” drawing an exceptional attendance rate from faculty, students, and researchers.

Professor Ke Lu, a distinguished Senior Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study (HKIAS) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) and President of the Liaoning Academy of Materials, visited CityUHK on 13 April for a day of focused academic exchanges. His visit highlighted ongoing collaborations in materials science and engineering, fostering meaningful dialogues with faculty and young researchers at CityUHK.
