城市大学高等研究院成功邀请台湾当代著名作家白先勇教授，成为城大高等研究院首位人文学术科的资深院士。而上星期3月9日于校内举行的「昆曲的情与美」讲座，更让师生及大众有机会跟世界级的一流现代文学大师当面对话与接触，进一步促进城大的人文科学教育。

情窦初开的杜丽娘挥舞水袖、襄王无梦的赵匡胤高唱大志，疑幻疑真的滔滔江水、似有还无的锦绣河山，在著名文学家及昆曲专家白先勇教授生动解说下，令香港城市大学（城大）高等研究院3月9日的杰出讲座成为通往婉约华丽的昆曲世界之大门，500多位观众看得如痴如醉。

在昆曲的世界，有情窦初开的杜丽娘挥舞水袖，襄王无梦的赵匡胤高唱大志。著名文学家白先勇一直在推广昆曲上不遗馀力，他早前在城市大学主持「昆曲的情与美」讲座，表示要把昆曲带进校园，让年轻一代学习欣赏。

Renowned writer Pai Hsien-yung gives a lecture titled "Love and Beauty of Kunqu Opera" at City University of Hong Kong in south China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, March 9, 2018. 两位知名科学家最近先后于香港城市大学（城大）主持高等研究院杰出讲座，分别探讨L函数及材料信息学。他们是美国普林斯顿大学数学系张寿武教授和中国上海大学材料基因组工程研究院创院院长张统一教授。

Marks will receive the Harvey Prize for his ground-breaking research that has both fundamental and practical significance, in the areas of catalysis, organo-f-element chemistry, electronic and photonic materials, and coordination chemistry, all of which have strongly impacted contemporary chemical science.

Sir Colin Blakemore, professor of neuroscience and philosophy at the School of Advanced Study (SAS), University of London, has been awarded the President’s Research Medal, the College of Optometrists’ most prestigious honour. It was presented at the Wellcome Collection on 25 January when Professor Blakemore delivered the College’s Research Excellence Lecture, ‘A visual experience’, to a packed audience that included leading members of the optometric research community.
